Word Bingo

  B I N G O
1 across without class knew there
2 glow rope dear nest upon
3 lake mail fast once lock
4 quit hall inch plan step
5 voice bow joy ship year

Mark a paper with squares: 5 across and 5 down.
Write the letters B, I, N, G, O across the top squares.
Write the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 by the left descending squares.
Write vocabulary words in each of the 25 squares. If you are making multiple Bingo sheets, then mix up the order the words. You can make these words suit the level of the students playing the game.

Teachnology is a great site to make fast and easy Bingo cards. The example is one using First Grade vocabulary words.

Rules: Simply call out random letter/number combinations (B3, G1, etc.)
Or you may choose to make 25 small cards with all the letter/number combinations and have
students take turns selecting the next Bingo card.

Students must correctly read the chosen word before they can cover it. It’s fun to use candy for word makers (like Sweet Tarts, Smarties, or M&M’s) and let students eat these at game’s end. But you can use anything from buttons, to checkers, or simply paper scraps to cover the words called and correctly read.

As in regular Bingo, a player wins by covering 5 words in a row. Or if you want to prolong the game, then a player must cover all the words on his card to win.
